What is a Donor Endowment?

Endowments preserve legacies of faithful Christians through the years and build up the body of Christ, providing for meaningful Catholic ministries and programs today and for future generations. They can provide needed funding when times are hard, and important seed money for new efforts.

Donor Endowments are used to provide critical financial support for programs that address social, economic, educational and spiritual needs throughout the Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens.
Donor Endowments allow you to support a specific Diocesan program or organization such as Catholic Migration Services or Youth Ministries, or your Catholic school or academy. Your endowment gift can also provide unrestricted support to the Diocese to serve the greatest good.
An Endowment may be preserved with funding from an estate gift, bequest or designation in a will.
As part of the Foundation's assets pool, your endowment will be invested in socially and morally responsible funds that are aligned with the beliefs of the Roman Catholic Church.

Personalizing Your Fund

Your Endowment Fund can be named in honor or memory of a loved one and can be tailored to various Catholic missions in the Diocese of Brooklyn. Some examples inlcude:

Scholarships for Catholic education for economically disadvantaged children.
Capital improvements for parish churches, schools, and academies.
Expansion of youth evangelization and the Catholic Youth Ministry Initiative.
Protection of our most vulnerable through support of Catholic Migration Services.

Your Fund can be personalized to your specific purpose, creating a permanent endowment that reflects your values, and ensures ongoing support for your Catholic mission priority. It will truly be a permanent tribute to you and your loved ones, perpetuating your ministry of giving into future generations.

An Investment in the Future

Creating your Endowment will be simple for you; and will put the power of your generosity into an investment vehicle stewarded on your behalf by Catholic Foundation for Brooklyn and Queens. After your Endowment is created, and as it grows, earnings will be disbursed to your chosen Diocesan charity annually into perpetuity. You, your family and friends will be free to continue to build your Endowment. A specialized website for future endowment donations will be created and can be shared by you. At any time, you will be free to invite others to honor your legacy by making a donation to your Endowment Fund. Their gift to you will be a future gift to your chosen Diocesan charity.

How Do I Create an Endowment?

Simply contact our Development Office at 718-965-7375. We can supply you with a draft Endowment Agreement, required minimums, and other details about the Endowment program.
